How to clean your OZZ driving lights
OZZ lights are built for real-world conditions. Snow-covered roads, muddy trails, gravel, road salt, and long highway miles are part of everyday driving. But even the most durable lights benefits from proper care. Keeping your lights clean is not only about appearance. It is about maintaining performance, beam precision, and long-term durability.
Dirt, salt, and road film can gradually reduce light output by blocking or diffusing the beam. A clean lens ensures that the light performs exactly as engineered, with maximum clarity and reach. Over time, leaving contaminants on the surface can also affect coatings, seals, and mounting hardware. Regular cleaning helps preserve both function and finish.
Begin by rinsing off loose dirt with low-pressure water. This step is important. Mud, sand, and gravel particles can scratch the lens if you start wiping the surface too early. If you use a pressure washer, keep a safe distance and avoid directing high pressure straight at seals, cable entries, or mounting points.
Once loose debris has been removed, use lukewarm water together with a pH-neutral car shampoo and a soft sponge or brush. Gently clean the lens and housing without applying excessive pressure. Avoid strong degreasers or solvent-based cleaners. Harsh chemicals and rough materials can damage protective coatings and affect the surface finish.
Pay attention to details such as mounting brackets, cooling fins, and the edges around the lens. These areas can trap dirt and moisture over time. A soft detailing brush can help remove buildup without damaging the components. Keeping these areas clean supports long-term durability, especially in demanding environments.
